My Windows 8 computer has only USB ports for external connection. I don't seem to be able to connect my MH-365 to the computer. I can print documents, but when I disconnect the printer and connect the MH-365 to the same port and try to cut, nothing happens.

When you connect the 2nd device, nothing happens because it requires drivers. You can't just plug the device. You also need the drivers. Use the support CD that arrived with it and install the required drivers and wait for Windows to finish install them then the next time you connect it, it should work normally.

no you don't need a dongle. when it was first made you used to, but no any more.
